Turns out, when you read, edit and write 40 hours a week for generous compensation….you don’t have much energy left for the free work.
And my TV habits have all but vanished, thanks to Rock Band and lousy scripted shows. Gotta show the love to Ace of Cakes though.

HUZZAH! Bryan Fuller’s on top of it all. (A Wonderfalls crossover is coming on PD). I only skimmed the interview…b/c well..I still haven’t watched this week’s new episode of Pushing Daisies. I know, I know. but honestly between my roommates and Rock Band, I’ve had other things on the brain besides TV.
SNL has seriously been disappointing me. I’m slowly cutting shows off and it’s next on the chopping block.
I have a OTH rant inside but I don’t have the energy. It’s so just terrible I can’t stop watching the train wreck. This week’s had one surprisingly good moment with Deb and the bottle. But then they ruined it by the psycho nanny having to be shot the second time. Seriously? Oy.

Let’s face it. I won’t blog everyday, despite my best intentions. I’ve become a statistic. I spend the dragging hours at work dreaming about coming home, kicking off my shoes and playing Rock Band. Not watching TV as much. In fact, last night I finally watched the season finale of Burn Notice. Nice shout out to BSG…they called Darla “a machine”. Heee.
I also caught up on Project Runway because let’s face it. Even if you’re like me and could care less about clothing, there is something oddly fascinating about how narassitic those jokers are.
But I wouldn’t have missed The Office for the world. Raise your hand if Jim and Pam make you happy? Yep, that’s everyone. Not to mention, Dwight & Angela cracking me up. Michael’s goatee. Totally called Ryan back as the receptionist. But how much do I love Holly???
On Tino: NCIS, OTH, and I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting. Not to mention DVDs that I’ve had for over a week.

1-2 in ALL four leagues. *sigh*
Wow there was new TV on! And I watched some of it! I skipped the Emmys because let’s face it, the Emmy voters don’t watch TV. If they did shows like Battlestar Galactica and Friday Night Lights wouldn’t be shut out.
Big Bang Theory- Glad to see my nerds. But danger, danger BBT. Sheldon is great and wonderful, but too much Sheldon will get old fast. I do enjoy Penny and him interacting.
HIMYM- Hi Stella. Welcome back. Please stay.
Heroes- We watched the first hour. Now that I’m officially old, we didn’t make it through hour 2. Which leads me to a rant about extra long premieres. I’m not for them.

0-4 in fantasy this week. *sigh* It’s gonna be a long season.
Ever since I bought a big tv, I’ve entered a bizarro universe where TLC and ESPN are the most commonly watched channels and I can sit for a couple of hours without control of the Tivo remote. Last night we were actually watching MNF and Project Runway at the same time. Aaaand now I’m kinda hooked on Project Runway. Thanks Yost.
So I’m one OTH rant behind and I haven’t watched this week’s. Is it bad that I laughed when a character was killed of last week? The wheel o’tv cliches is in full bloom this season. So I’m not overly eager to watch 40 minutes of a child actor trying to cry while reading from his cue card. I also don’t miss Prison Break. I’m opting to sookie through to scenes with Dr Sara, but once Heroes starts back, PB won’t be recorded.
Because CHUCK is also almost back and along with BSG, Wonderfalls, Dead like Me, The Office, and fantasy football, I’ve also hooked Yost on Chuck

Let me summarize what was funny: Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.
Now, let me summarize everything that was not: The rest of the show. Even Weekend Update, usually the highlight for me, was weak. Phelps read straight off the cue card and they recycled a sketch from Peyton Manning’s show. It wasn’t funny the second time. Also still not funny: the fake political comedian Nicholas Feign.
Why was there no Penelope sketch? That would’ve been the better Kristen Wiig use than the creepy kids. I guess they think just changing wigs on a tall, awkward standing athlete would be funny enough.

Bad blogger. If only the world could enjoy the entertainment that my roommates provide….which is why I watch less TV nowadays.
In fact, that 2-hour Prison Break is still sitting on the Tivo. I think I’ve decided to sookie through to find Dr. Sarah and then delete. I don’t miss the show one bit and Mondays are busy nights with Chuck and HIMYM, and Big Bang.
Meanwhile, MNF should be good. I’m interested in how Aaron Rogers does. But of four fantasy teams, my W/Ls are set already. 3 Ws and 1 L. Wouldn’t you know that one Loss is to Scooter. I hate when I leave more points on my bench, points that would’ve beat Scooter. Sheesh Jo. Somehow I doubt my one lone receiver playing tonight will put me over the top. But looking around the points from the rest of the league in Week 1…Scooter and I are both in trouble this year…

I love you.
Office Season 4 DVD extras are hysterical. Angela’s sn is Monkey? Dwight’s is Monkey Trainer? And then this talking head?
Dwight: “My cousin mose had a dog who was his best friend. one day i came home and he was foaming at the mouth. So i shot him dead. Turns out, he had eaten one of Mose’s cream pies. Do I feel bad that I shot him? No. That’s how you deal with a thief.”

The second season of the lovely Robin Hood is available in the States and I had my queue just waiting. I was so excited that I postponed my Lost catchup.
The show still has all the great points. Much gets perpetually told to shut up. Little John still talks like Yoda, but let’s be honest- Him, I like. Will’s as cute as ever and they haven’t forgotten the humor.
The title sequence changed and I think they are going for the epiletic look. Don’t blink if you want to see the flashes of various characters with weapons raised. The tone of the show is definitely darker but they manage to pull off a decent intensity. Djaq gets to look like a woman and Allen is well, I don’t want to throw spoilers out there. The thing is I’ve been spoiled on Season 2 and a few pieces Season 3.
The best part about the DVDs are the commentaries. The actors jump in on several including the highly pivotal last two episodes. Then there’s also a bonus disc with some featurettes. I highly recommend Robin Hood to anyone looking for a fun adventure story with a little cheeky humor.

So last night a new season of One Tree Hill debuted. My lovely two roommates and I decided to watch so that we could mock it together. I have to say it is far more enjoyable to bash this show with others of similar TV taste. Because by the end of the night I had the headache to end all and I’m blaming you Mark Schwann.
As a TV resolution, I promised to find ONE nice thing to say about OTH before bashing it. Here is that nice thing: Happy Peyton. But that also brings to the rant.
I could put up a spoiler warning, but if you honestly and deepy care about One Tree Hill enough to not want to be spoiled, you probably won’t enjoy my rant.
Being rant:
- OTH’s knock you over the head imagery. The guy at the beginning asking Lucas to choose between three queens? Honestly? Don’t insult your audience. Not to mention telegraph completely that the opening sequence was all in Lucas’s head.
- Low to no Haley. WE LIKE HALEY. More Haley.
- Jamie’s little jig. If Jamie dancing to himself keeps him from talking a lot on screen, I’m all for it.
- Skillz being reduced to an idiot and then hooking up with Grandma Ho.
- Anybody else think that Millie’s pregnant in real life? Go back and rewatch her placements, the baggy clothes, the clipboards and purses she’s carrying. Yeah, we know why they are shipping you off to Tulsa with Mouth now.
- Speaking of, Mouth’s haircut?! Helllllo Minkus. Instead of aging him up with the rest of the cast, they actually made him look younger and dorkier. Please. Brooke wouldn’t stand for that.
- Now, not only is Brooke getting no love, she’s getting the ever loving snot beaten out of her. Not cool. Did we not already go through two psycho storylines in the last two years?
- SPEAKING OF, STUPID LUCAS. Do not bring up Peyton’s stalker. EVER. and not in bed. Are you out of your mind?
- Which also leads to the COMPLETE Misery rip off in the psycho nanny/evil Dan. First, we should never empathize with Dan. Second, pscyho nanny needed to go because she can’t act.
- Happy Peyton had better last. In fact, at one point I threatened aloud that if Peyton and Lucas ended up in a car wreck on their way to happy wedded bliss, I might throw something at my TV.
- Meanwhile, if/when they do finally marry off Lucas and Peyton IT NEEDS TO STICK. Realistic, happy and interesting TV couples DO EXIST (See: Monica & Chandler, Coach & Tami Taylor, oh I dunno Nathan & Hayley for crying out loud.) If this whole marrying Lucas thing doesn’t work out the ONLY reason I’d give it a pass is for Jake. Jake’s other show got cancelled, call him up.
Sigh, okay I think that’s it. I do love Victoria. I’d almost like to see her and evil Dan hook up just for spite.
